Position Summary

The Special Hazard Technician is responsible for inspecting, testing, servicing, and repairing special hazard fire suppression systems in accordance with NFPA standards and company procedures. This field-based role ensures that all systems function safely and effectively while providing exceptional customer service and maintaining compliance with applicable codes and regulations.

The ideal candidate is an experienced fire protection professional who thrives in the field, demonstrates technical precision, and takes pride in protecting people and property through high-quality service work.


Key Responsibilities

Inspection, Testing & Maintenance
• Perform scheduled inspections, testing, and maintenance of special hazard and fire suppression systems in compliance with applicable codes and standards.
• Conduct on-site service calls and emergency troubleshooting to ensure system functionality.
• Identify and correct deficiencies, non-conformance issues, and code violations.
• Prepare detailed, accurate service reports and documentation in a timely manner.

Customer Service & Professional Conduct
• Maintain a professional appearance and courteous demeanor while representing FEI on customer sites.
• Communicate effectively with clients to explain findings, repairs, and system conditions.
• Provide high-quality service and promote customer confidence in FEI’s work.

Operational & Safety Standards
• Perform duties in accordance with FEI’s safety procedures and OSHA standards.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to respond to emergency service needs.
• Use company tools, vehicles, and equipment responsibly and efficiently.
• Follow established workflows in Salesforce CRM to document activities and service records.

Team Collaboration
• Work closely with service coordinators, project managers, and other technicians to ensure job completion and customer satisfaction.
• Support team goals by sharing technical knowledge and assisting with field training when applicable.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of service processes and standards.


Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; additional trade or technical education preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in fire suppression or special hazard systems.
• Massachusetts Sprinkler Journeyman License required.
• OSHA 10 for Construction certification required.
• Strong working knowledge of applicable fire codes and NFPA standards.
• Ability to work independently and be available for on-call rotations as scheduled.
• Proficiency in basic computer applications; Salesforce CRM experience preferred.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
