Compensation: $21.63-$36.06/Hr.

The Shop Technician is responsible for testing, filling, and hydrotesting portable fire extinguishers and suppression cylinders. This role ensures all extinguishers meet NFPA and code requirements while maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient shop environment. The ideal candidate is reliable, self-motivated, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced service environment.
- Test portable fire extinguishers to ensure compliance with NFPA and state code requirements
- Fill fire extinguishers and various fire suppression cylinders
- Perform hydrostatic testing on cylinders and tanks
- Maintain safe working practices while servicing cylinders and operating shop equipment
- Assist with counter sales and customer walk-ins as needed
- Manage inventory, including receiving, stocking, and shipping materials
- Maintain the safety, cleanliness, and organization of the warehouse
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
- High school diploma or GED required
- 1–3 years of related experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and training
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 75 lbs
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Basic math and counting skills
- Ability to multitask and work independently
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to follow shop safety procedures
- Basic knowledge of fire protection systems (alarms, sprinklers, suppression) preferred
